The next major update to Dynamics 365 is 1 WEEK AWAY!

Microsoft has changed the way that updates to Dynamics 365 Online are deployed. In the past the update would roll out over a month or so and you would receive notifications of the date your system would receive the update. Also in the past, the date could be changed if you were not ready to receive the update.

The Spring 2019 update is scheduled to be deployed to all North American customers on April 26-28 2019 (one week away). Customers no longer have the ability to schedule major updates, they will be deployed similar to the minor service updates. 

New features and updates – There are many updates and some new features being rolled out as part of this update. To learn more download the release notes.

How to prepare for the update – You can opt into receive the updates in a non-production/sandbox environment. This will allow you to preview the updates to existing user experience only (not all features). For more information on how to opt into the preview see Microsoft’s article.  The user experience updates are centered around the unified interface and will not impact the more widely used classic browser interface. See Microsoft’s article.

Read the release notes – The release notes will provide information on all the updates and new features that will be deployed in the spring update. 

There is no preview of the full update, only the above referenced preview. 

Dynamics 365 for Marketing – If you are using this module (not ClickDimensions) you need to explicitly upgrade your app in the Dynamics 365 Admin Center to receive the Spring updates, they will not be automatically applied. 

If you did not opt-in to the Spring update, your system will automatically receive the update between April 26-28. You cannot change the date the update will be applied.
