What is Microsoft Copilot?

Microsoft Copilot is an artificial intelligence (AI) assistant. AI, or Artificial Intelligence, refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think and learn like humans. It encompasses a broad range of techniques, algorithms, and technologies that enable machines to perform tasks that typically require human intelligence.

The first significant AI tool brought to market was ChatGPT developed by OpenAI. ChatGPT was launched in June 2020 and gained significant news coverage and fanfare. ChatGPT was not the first AI tool, in fact the earliest notable AI tool was developed in 1955. AI has been used in many applications over the years and you have likely used AI without even knowing it. For example, when you search the internet using Bing or Google, as you type there are suggestions being displayed in real-time and powered by AI.

Microsoft Copilot is a suite of artificial intelligence tools that are embedded in Office 365 (now named Microsoft 365) and Dynamics 365. Copilot is available in Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Dynamics 365 and others. Copilot is even available in Power Apps and can build an app for you just by describing the app. you need.

Basically, you ask Copilot to do things for you or to answer questions including questions about your own data (example: tell me our top lead sources for February).

Summarize Meetings

Microsoft Copilot can provide detailed summaries of meetings conducted in Microsoft Teams provided you record the meeting. Below I ask Copilot to summarize a meeting I had with a client on Wednesday about their Power-CRM project.

After it provided the summary I then asked for any action items mentioned. Notice how you can interact with Copilot much like speaking to a person:
